The other day while walking through my favorite place to shop I was asked a question by my favorite "Apron Meals" chef who has also become a friend and follower of our blog. She said you know I haven't really seen anything new lately. She told me how much she enjoyed seeing all the new recipes and reading our stories. She apologized afterwards and said I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything I was just curious if something happened.
I had a plethora of excuses well not really excuses these things did happen. In January I broke my foot and ankle (which should have given me even more time) since I was pretty much housebound for 6 -8 weeks. In late February I broke out into this horrible itchy rash which lasted weeks! In March I lost my Dog of 15 years. I had a fall at a store, my Daughter was in between moving and the list goes on and on. I have not done the blog, I have not followed the eating plan I said I was going to do. My internet sales are at an all time low because I haven't put the work into it. The past few weeks have been weeks of reflecting for me. I have thought about my life and what it has become. Rather boring actually doing the same repetitious things day after day after day. Writing my lists of menus only to push them aside week after week. Making the same sad food choices week after week. Saying ok next week I am going to get a blog up only to see it is now 8 days, 9 days later. So the other day I read a quote by Mark Twain it went like this.. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover After reading that I realized I have a lot of dreams. One of my dreams was to have an awesome blog page that I could meet wonderful people like yourselves through. I want to ride in the London Eye, I want to travel to South Dakota to surprise my cousin, I would love to buy groceries for at least one person every week, I want to supply Christmas for a family. I want to make a difference in the lives of many.. God put a dream in my heart over a year ago to get healthy and pass the knowledge that I learned through it on to others. I have realized people are my passion. People are part of my dream. I need to start achieving what I have been put here to do. It all starts with me...The dream starts today with this blog. You will be hearing much more from me. Thank you Mason Jar Mamas family for listening and a very special thank you to my favorite Apron Meals Chef Linda :) Now it's time for me to go start doing some listings and doing this thing called life...Mama Carol

Make mornings easier- Back to school.
1.Muffin tins! Sure you can use these handy things for traditional muffins or you can go beyond the muffin. How about mini quiche? or traveling omelettes? or maybe on the go pancakes? 2. Shoe boxes! In the fridge and pantry. I know it sounds a bit odd but stick with me. A Few well placed plastic shoe boxes can make lunch prep a snap. One box with pre cut fruit & veggies, another with some pre-cut deli meat & cheese (or other pre-made main course faire- chicken nuggets, pizza bagels) a box in the pantry with pre-measured chips, popcorn, crackers, or other dry snacks. Make it work for your family, instead of having to prep lunches the night before or the morning of, you can simply prep over the weekend and then let the kids choose 1-2 items from each box for their lunch. 3. Shoe Boxes! I know I already said that, but They can be used in so many different ways. My sister has 4 kids, and one of the biggest stresses of getting ready and off to school in the morning is shoes!! My niece is searching for her missing shoe, the 5 year old is walking around in cars and batman shoes (both left shoes) because he can't find the matches, my oldest nephew is turning the house upside down looking for his soccer cleats, finding shoes can be the worst part of the morning. Save the stress and assign a box for each child (and even you and hubby) to put their shoes in. No more missing shoes! 4. Extra Large Ziplock Bags! Other then trying to find shoes, many times finding clothing is another Good Morning nightmare. Instead of pulling clothes out trying to find what matches and what's too small, take the weekend to get everyone's clothes for the week together, No worry about the little one wearing plaid and polka-dots in purple and red or missing the bus because they couldn't find socks. Pack shirts, pants, underwear,& socks (even accessories for the girls) in a ziplock, and let them grab a bag in the morning when they are ready to get ready. 5. Hooks or hangers! Keep backpacks hanging on the wall on a hook or hanger, make sure everything is packed up and in the night before and hang each bag on the wall, no need to remember where they put their bag, bonus if you can put them by the door to easily grab as they go out the door! It's been a while since we've posted, and since school is starting and we are moving from the lazy days of summer to the busy days of school, work, and other fun and festive events, I figured we would post some mason jars!
