Happy Wednesday family! I was wondering what I could find to give today so i went to Publix looking for the meal bags they have where you purchase a meal for a family in need, however they did not have any. So as I was checking out I was trying to think of what I could do today for day 4. So there was this very nice young man in back of me with his dessert. Ice cream and Oreo cookies. I think he was very surprised when i told the cashier to add it to my bill dessert was on me tonight. I love putting a smile on someones face. ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS (COOKIES) MY TRUE LOVE BAKED FOR ME: CANDY CANE COOKIES We've made these a few years now. They don't have a strong flavor so they are great for a snack with tea, coffee, or coco.Ingredients
1 cup sugar 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1/2 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon peppermint extract 1 egg 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon red food color 2 tablespoons finely crushed peppermint candies 2 tablespoons sugar Directions
To make cookies about the same size, measure dough for one cookie with a ruler, then use that dough to measure all the rest. For day 3 it was giving money in the Red Kettle for the Salvation Army. I see so much of what they do here in our county.. They provide Christmas dinner for over 600 families in just one small area of Pasco County plus whatever doesn't get picked on the Angel tree they provide that as well. So literally thousands of children have a gift under the tree thanks to the Salvation Army and there team of volunteers. Usually they have open enrollment for about 2 weeks for families to sign up for the Angel tree and Christmas dinner. In our area they closed it after just one day! They already met there quota of people. People are really hurting this year :( If you have an extra buck or 2 in your pocket drop it in a red kettle..Your money is going to a good cause ...Till we meet again..Mama Carol Happy Monday Family! Well it is day 2 of our season of giving. Today we did another simple idea we put a package of popcorn in a bag along with a card with a free Redbox rental code. Just wrote poppin in for the Holidays. Here's a free movie code along with a bowl of popcorn to go with it. Merry Christmas! We actually went online for a free code (Yes we made sure it worked) and with popcorn being relatively cheap it really made an inexpensive idea but now someone gets popcorn and a movie for free :) Make sure you stop back tomorrow for day 3 of giving also waiting to see what April is going to do for a cookie recipe. Till we meet again...Mama Carol ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS (COOKIES) MY TRUE LOVE BAKED FOR ME: THE MOISTEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES YOU WILL EVER EAT!Last Christmas we found this recipe from two peas & their pod and have loved it ever since! These are the most amazing chocolate chip cookies that we have ever baked and I will warn you, THEY ARE HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! They are fantastic warm and gooey right out of then oven or even after being stored in an airtight container for a few days. Every year we set aside a day or 2 for baking and making other edible treats to give to our friends and neighbors. It's a great way to be able to make some yummy baked goods without having tons left over sitting around the house calling our names at 3am. HaHa Anywho here is the recipe:
Vanilla Pudding Chocolate Chip Cookies Yield: 3 dozen cookies Cook Time: 10-12 minutes ingredients:1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup granulated sugar 3.4 oz. package vanilla instant pudding mix 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips directions:1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat and set aside. 2. Using a mixer, beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add in pudding mix, eggs, and vanilla extract. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. 3. Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until slight golden and set. Remove cookies from oven and let cool on baking sheet for two minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool completely. Thanks again to two peas & their pod for this delicious recipe! Did from October 31st to Dec 1st just fly by or is it me? It seemed we were coming up with ideas for October and a week later it was Thanksgiving now it is 24 days till Christmas! Yikes! So April is going to do 25 days of cookies. I am going to be doing 25 days of giving and Dawn is doing dinner and a Christmas movie. Along with that we are going to have lots of mason jar ideas along with other craft ideas and lots of recipes. Might try to get a roundup or 2 in there with our favorite picks. Hope you can join us! Anyway, for today's day of giving when I printed out my coupons for Michaels I made sure I printed extras to give to customers standing in line that may not have had smartphones or a computer since Michaels does not carry there store ads. You most likely have all the ingredients already in your pantry so they are great for a last minute dessert and make a delicious hostess gift when packaged in a pretty box or bag. What about having the little ones help
Here's how to make them: 1 egg, 1 cup any kind of peanut butter, 1 cup of sugar. Mix together. Roll into little 2 inch balls. Take a fork and press down on the tops to flatten a little and they get that grid mark on them. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Done! |
