Happy Tuesday! All I could smell throughout my house this evening was the meatloaf in the oven which accompanied the whipped potatoes and creamed corn & applesauce. Shortly afterwards i walked over to my Daughters to be greeted with the aroma of a port roast in the crockpot with potatoes and apples. It told me one thing... Fall is here! We look for those heavier richer foods that we don't usually make in the warmer weather. Mostly because I don't want to heat the house up from the oven. Oh another clue the weather is getting cooler my Hubby's flannel jacket was unburied once again from the back of the closet. So this is the perfect intro to our newest 5 minute craft project leaf prints. I think the kids spent more time looking for their leaves that were on the ground then actually doing the project. It's relatively easy. They paint the leaves with washable paint and then press them down on the cardstock to make their artwork. We would have put more on the paper but we were headed to a Trunk or Treat event so there attention span was even shorter then normal. So this was a very good 5 minute project. Maybe next time we can get more then one print.lol..Till we meet again..Mama Carol Here is what we used to make our prints (we had small Styrofoam plates for the paint as well) I got the paint for 1.57 a bottle at Walmart. We now have enough for lots of projects:) 30 brushes for 2.00 at Walmart too. Leaves were free...lol Even Jake decided to get in on this craft.. Mama April is even joining in :)
Halloween is creeping closer! Now that I have a little guy I love finding reasons to make any meal fun and special so in my house this Halloween we are going to be doing every meal in a monstrous way. Join us from some frightfully good & delicious fun! BREAKFASTLUNCHDINNERDESSERTSNACKSSince I missed posting on Saturday I thought I would post twice today. So before we went to our second trunk or treat outing on Friday night we did crafts for a short time. A very short time..lol.We try to keep crafts within five minutes ten tops or else we are sitting there finishing things with kids nowhere to be found. No they do not like to sit for very long. So my Grandson found a bingo marker one day and put dots all over everything. So since then every once in a while we occupy him with the bingo markers. Seeing it is fall we decided to go with fall colors. Aren't they pretty? I got them at Dollar Tree..They should be coming out with some Christmas colors shortly and we can do plenty of things for Christmas. I'm sure you will see them :) Anyways going to think what my next post blog shall be about..hmmm..Any ideas? Till we meet again..Mama Carol Your supplies.Bingo markers, cardstock, markers Trace there hand and forearm for the trunk There's his little tongue sticking out again..lol Feeling very accomplished! Focusing on her picture! The finished pictures..(minus one which disappeared. lol) I even did one with them :)
Happy Sunday everybody! I know time is getting close to Halloween but I also know some people wait till the last week to carve so your pumpkin doesn't spoil. I found literally over 1000 designs online! Quotes, Nick Jr, Christian, Ect..lots & lots!
So check some of them out! Happy Carving everybody! I as a mom of 4 have to be so frugal with the little income we have so anywhere we can cut in and save money I am all for it! So I started a long time ago with emailing companies and telling them about there products. I do 5 a week. Now an email only takes 2 minutes times that by 5 so 10 min a week out of my day to email 5 different companies. Just look in your pantry or closet and pick 5 companies. have received so many freebies and coupons sent my way just by doing this! I also sign up for whatever freebies are available through the week! Just this week I have received: Shapes magazine, Sport Illustrated, Prilosec otc sample, 15.00 in baby formula coupons, I got tampons, pads, Kierig samples, and more. My favorite feebie was from Kierig.I got a sample from them, then a week later I got a 4 pk, then just last week I received an entire box!! Freebies4mom is one of my favorite sites to go! But there are many more it just may take a little time to find them. However it is worth it! If you have any questions about getting freebies..just ask ..Momma Dawn These are just some of the items I have received for free!!!
Can you believe it is Thursday already! What happened to the rest of the week? Only 36 days till Thanksgiving and 62 days till Christmas! Where does the time go? I believe as I get older the days pass so much faster. Could just be me though.lol Well as I said before if you have children or in my case grandchildren that don't sit still for long here is another 5 minute craft. The other day was a birdfeeder today is placemats. All you need is some clear contact paper, cardstock, markers, crayons and scissors and away we go... Coloring the table was more fun He is so serious! I love the tongue sticking out..lol My Grandson said this is the bus from Epcot in Disney. Not bad for a 4 year old. My Grandaughter decided to draw some Picasso turkeys. She colored them in before we put them in the contact paper. Lay contact paper flat. Measure paper fold contact over to seal and cut away and extra edge. Instant placemats and they are so proud of their artwork! My grandson actually had to hang his Epcot bus on the fridge.
5 Happy Humpday! I don't know who hasn't seen the Geico commercial with the camel but it is one of the funniest! Anyway yesterday while attempting to clean out a cabinet I came upon half bags of this and that. So I decided to throw them all together and make a mix for Halloween & Fall (You will see that one in a later post) I actually done it pretty cheaply too and it makes a great gift for somebody or just keep it on your table and if it's like my house it won't last long! I made the mason jar lids from some scrapbook paper I had here. I just traced around the lid and cut them out. Added some orange organza ribbon a few spiders and voila! a beautiful gift! This is the ingredients I used: 5 cups of Rice Chex 2 cups of mini marshmallows 1 box of 1 oz Craisins ( They usually come 6 to a pack) 2 boxes of 1 oz raisins (they usually come 6 to a pack as well told you it was this & that.lol) 2 cups of candy corn 1 1/2 cups of m&m's 1 cup white chocolate chips Of course feel free to add your own ideas. Coconut, sunflower seeds, chocolate chips, ect.. The recipe above made 2 quart jars and 2 pint jars. My Grandson lovin the snack mix!
Happy Tuesday everybody! Well if you are like me you are always looking for ways to get the cooking done and out of the way and what better then a complete meal in a crockpot! Whats even better is if you can prep it all the night before set it in the fridge and when you get up place it in the cooker turn it on boom you are done. Dinner out of the way! One thing off your checklist! I never thought I would get tired of cooking..lol.I was always going to be like Betty Crocker or something. These elaborate meals every night. (Yes it was a dream) Now there are 3 words in the English language I absolutely dread. What's For Dinner? So I try to find whatever way I can to make it as easy as possible. My crockpot has become my friend "sigh". I look for a lot of recipes and create a lot of my own. After reading you can make baked potatoes in your crockpot that opened up a whole new world for me! Yes I got very excited! So if I can make baked potatoes, heck lets go for the entire meal! And if I can do white potatoes why not sweet potatoes? Alas that was our dinner one night a complete meal. Pork loin w/mushroom gravy & onions, sweet potatoes with olive oil & rosemary & brussel sprouts with a splash of lemon and seasoning. Let me tell you it was good!! Now I know there are lots people who don't like brussel sprouts so feel free to switch out for corn, carrots, ect. So here goes..Crockpot meal # 2. If you missed #1 it is in our recipes under Complete meal in a Crockpot. BBQ chicken... Till we meet again..Mama Carol Start out spraying your crockpot with Pam or some kind of non-stick spray. You will love that you did this when cleaning afterwards :) Add 6 pieces of pork loin. Add 1 chopped onion. Add a 10.5 or 10.7 oz (sorry I didn't write it down) can of condensed cream of mushroom soup.(Do not add the water as stated) Place a piece of foil over the soup and the pork loin to cover it as you are going to set your potatoes on top. Cut up your sweet potatoes into bite size pieces. (I used 2 large for this recipe) I drizzled on some olive oil (about a tbsp and added about a tsp rosemary and a tsp salt free Mrs. Dash. Wrap tightly in foil. Place on top of pork. I added a bag of frozen brussel sprouts to this. I poured the bag in some foil, added a splash of lemon and some Perfect Pinch seasoning. Wrapped that up and added it to the crockpot. Cooked on low for 6 hours. Enjoy!
Happy Monday! Well we went to our trunk or treat on Saturday and the kids made out pretty good. Lots of ghosts and goblins. Seen Doc McStuffins, Jesse & Woody, Mario, The Incredible Hulk and many more. Oh how I miss those days! I have to tell a quick story though. One year my Mom didn't know what to make for my costume and she had a lot of green crepe paper from somewhere. I don't even think they make that anymore. Well anyway she decided to make me the Jolly Green Giant from the commercials. Well I was green leaves from head to foot. When my Mom decided on something she did it all the way! Well who would have known it was going to rain that night! You guessed it after peeling the crepe paper off of me I was green from head to toe. And it don't wash off so easily. Needless to say the next few days at school were a riot..Not! Anyway just another funny story now, so let's get to crafts. My grandchildren sit for about 5 minutes maybe before they are distracted by something and there focus is gone! So when we do any kind of craft item it has got to be quick so here we go with the first one.. Here is what you will need to make bird feeders Jeremi found it more fun to look through the tubes Ryan found it more fun to eat the peanut butter Ok now we are serious..Spreading the peanut butter on the tube.. Jordan joining in on the fun Rolling the tube in the birdseed to cover it I added the string and voila! He is very proud of his birdfeeder!
